String Art is one of my passions. It’s an arrangement of coloured thread strung between points to form geometric patterns and designs.
String Art is labour-intensive and each creation takes many hours to create but I absolutely love the process. I use the Spirelli method where the thread is stitched through holes punched into Khardi paper. I use this paper for commissions for its outstanding quality. It’s a handmade, acid-free, vegan-friendly paper made from 100% cotton rag or jute sacks in Karnataka, South India. The paper's long cotton fibres are stronger and more durable than the short fibres of cotton seed, giving exceptional quality.
I’m fascinated and inspired by sacred geometry and draw on this in my designs. Each shape has a spiritual meaning. The spiral of a snail's shell, a single snowflake and the branches of a tree are all examples of sacred geometry.
I’m also happy to accept commissions using wood rather than Khadi paper. As it’s a more labour-intensive process and a more expensive material, that will be reflected in the price.

“I just wanted to thank you so much for coming to my home and teaching my friends and I how to make amazing mandala string art decorations. It was such a fun day thanks to you and we all went home not only with a new skill and a decoration but also with a feeling that we had escaped the rat race and (even with the stress of learning a new skill) become totally destressed. That is credit to you and your kind, encouraging and relaxed way of teaching. Thank you so much, and we look forward to another class soon.”
